New Year, New Quilt

Hi Everyone, Happy New Year and welcome back to my sewing room musings!

2021 ended well for me and my sewing, with the release of my new pattern On Safari and my niece absolutely loving her new chicken cushion. You can find the new pattern here and read all about the chicken cushion in my last post. While I got nowhere near my goal (thanks to a couple of cute but distracting little people) of four new pattern releases for the year, I did at least manage to release my Nativity Advent Calendar pattern as well as On Safari and have some more in the works for this year already. I’ve set myself the same goal of four new pattern releases again for this year plus the added goal of starting a YouTube channel!

My next quilt is well underway, I have all of the main blocks sewn up already and am currently working on what to put in the centre block.

This quilt is quite a bit different to my last ones as it’s mostly pieced with only a little or even no applique, depending on what ends up going in the middle block. Currently I’m working on an applique design for the middle, but I also have a few pieced options that I might still use.

Last week I had planned to get all the main blocks of my new quilt made and I just scraped in, getting the last of them finished Sunday morning. This week’s aim is to figure out the centrepiece (and hopefully get it made up, though that will depend on what I end up doing) and sew all the main blocks together into larger chunks, ready to put the whole top together once the centre is done. I’m also still thinking about adding a border, but we’ll get to that once the rest is done.

Also coming up is my “In The Box” beginner quilt pattern and tutorials. This quilt has been finished for a while already, I just need to find some extra time in my day to sit down and get the tutorials done! So here are my goals for the next couple of months:

January:

  • Complete current quilt and write and release the pattern.

February:

  • Start my YouTube channel.

  • Release my “In The Box” tutorials, both here on the blog and on my YouTube channel.

Well now that I’ve told you my goals for the next couple months I’d better get to work to ensure they get completed!

Till next time, Keep On Stitching!
